We are very thankful for Annamarie’s and Nellie’s observant nature. Recently Annamarie noticed during mom’s bath (Thursday) that she appeared to be having a seizure towards the end of the bath. She alerted us. We didn’t see any after effects, nor did it happen again over the course of a few days. I asked Nellie to watch closely on the following Monday (bath day) to see if she observed anything different or strange. She saw the same thing beginning to happen. It looked like mom was about the have another seizure. Nellie called me to tell me about it and suggested the positioning during the bath might be the problem. (feet raised, head lower for a period of 25-30 min). I contacted the hospice nurse and he confirmed that the position was used frequently, but apparently not good for mom. So, these ladies figured out something that was happening that could’ve caused mom to have a major seizure. The CNA has since changed her procedure and mom hasn’t had any more instances. Thank God! Thank you to our Home Instead ladies! They ROCK! They are truly TEAM SHIRLEY girls!
