Meet Goodlettsville’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight for May, Dian and her CAREGiver Kassie! Ms. Dian was a nurse in a hospital in Alabama and a prison nurse for several years, before her retirement. She loved to sew and made doll clothes and dressed dolls to sell in craft shows. She now has dementia, but still goes through the motions of sewing. She has been with Kassie for two years now and they are a great team.
Kassie knows exactly what Ms. Dian needs, even though she cannot speak. She feeds her and knows the sound Ms. Dian makes when she wants her chocolate pudding. She also reads stories to her, and you can see a spark on Ms. Dian’s face when she sees Kassie. Kassie will put on music or TV shows for Ms. Dian in order to calm her. Ms. Dian’s cat, Biscuit (whom you see in this picture), is always on the bed with her!
Kassie has been with Home Instead for five years and Ms. Dian’s daughter says, “Kassie is the best. I can go to work and know everything has been taken care of. I do not have to worry about anything.” We can see the love shared between Kassie and Ms. Dian, and it is truly heartwarming. We hope this pair stays together for many more years!
