Triggers for Seniors During the Holidays and How You Can Help
Happy Holidays from the Home Instead family!
As we approach this time of year, let’s be conscious that it can be difficult for some. Holidays can often bring feelings of depression and loneliness, especially in elders. These feelings can be brought on by emotional triggers that make it harder to cope with getting through the season. Some helpful things to do for your elders is:
- Reach out to them on a daily basis to be there for them.
- Ensure they are acknowledging their feelings.
- Plan ahead a few times to be with them. This will give them something to look forward to.
Our Professional Caregivers can help our elders cope with seasonal depression. They not only help care for their clients; they also are a friend to them. Many of our caregivers have great relationships with their clients. They can take your elder to the grocery store, take them out to eat, play games with them, watch TV with them, and even just be a friend to them.
