Gadsden August 2021 Professional CAREGiver of the Month - Debbie I.
Meet Debbie I., the August Professional CAREGiver of the Month for Gadsden! Debbie has been a caregiver in some capacity for 30 years. She began her caregiving career in a nursing home and was taught by two registered nurses. Her experience includes CPR certification, bandages, wound care, and injections. She even carries a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope with her, so her clients get extra care when Debbie is around. She has her CNA license from her previous hospital work as well and feels caregiving is her calling from God. She is a minister’s wife and prayed to God to direct her to her calling. Her answer was that she is already fulfilling her calling by being an excellent caregiver.
Debbie has one client currently and is so blessed by this independent woman. They are a team and Debbie lets her make her own decisions and do things for herself, unless is presents a danger. When Debbie is not working, she loves reading the Bible and teaching the Word of God. Her favorite holiday is obviously Christmas because she gets to celebrate the greatest gift ever given to man. Her favorite food is homemade apple pie. She makes hers with raisins. Her other favorite food would be her daughter’s homemade lasagna. She gets it every year on her birthday. Debbie’s supervisor says, “Debbie was selected for her caring heart. She is a ray of sunshine to all she sees. We have never had a negative complaint and have a laundry list of great things said about her. She truly deserves this!” We are so fortunate Debbie chose to fulfill her calling with us here at Home Instead. We hope she continues to spread her light with us for many years to come!
