Georgina Bolsters Home Instead’s Winning Team
A Home Instead® staff member at the award-winning Midland-Odessa franchise knew immediately she wanted Georgina Chacon on her CAREGiver team when Georgina inquired last fall. Home Instead was in good company because the University of Texas Permian Basin women’s soccer coach had given Georgina a scholarship to play for the Falcons last year.
Assistant Administrator and Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator Imelda Hawkins said Georgina is fast on her feet, which has served her well as CAREGiver. “Georgina joined our team in November 2021, and her willingness to take shifts when called upon has earned her the great honor of CAREGiver of the Month for February. I can honestly say all the office staff loves Georgina C.,” Imelda said.
“Georgina is the sweetest, most respectful young lady who you will ever come across. Her sweetness has won over the hearts of some of our difficult clients.”
Among the considerations for achieving CAREGiver of the Month status, an employee has shown he or she has gone above and beyond the call of duty, Imelda pointed out. Empathy and compassion are taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations. Georgina embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” She is someone who is exceptional at her work with any client, Imelda emphasized.
Georgina, an All-District 2-6A first-team soccer honoree at Midland High School before joining University of Texas Permian Basin, has chosen to concentrate on her Home Instead team and a career in the medical field. “I was a business major at the University of Texas Permian Basin, but I am changing my major to nursing next semester,” said Georgina, who was looking for a job on Google when she came across Home Instead.
Georgina is no rookie at senior care. “I helped my mom take care of my grandmother for about seven or eight years. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s disease,” Georgina said.
She added: “The thing I like most about my job as a Home Instead CAREGiver is the bond I create with the clients. That bond makes me feel as if I am a part of their family.”
When asked about memorable stories as a Home Instead CAREGiver, Georgina said: “Those sorts of things might be considered ‘moments’ instead of ‘stories.’ For instance, a client and I played miniature golf in the Lincoln Tower in Odessa where the client lives. When one client’s family came over for the weekend, I played card games with the client and his family.”
Georgina loves being a part of the CAREGiver team for owner Lorena and William Shensky’s franchise, a member of a highly successful network founded in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. The Home Instead network is the world’s leading provider of in-home care services for older adults, with more than 1,200 independently owned and operated franchises that provide care throughout the U.S. and 13 other countries. Georgina is among more than 100,000 CAREGivers worldwide, and she has helped add to those numbers because of her strong belief in Home Instead’s purpose.
