Maria Bonded Quickly With Her First Client
Home Instead® of Midland-Odessa benefited greatly when Maria Jasso stepped into her Care Professional position July 7, 2022. A little more than five months later, Maria was honored as the franchise’s Care Pro of the Month for December. The achievement did not come as a surprise to anyone who had worked with Maria.
Maria said: “My client and I have truly bonded. It has been a fulfilling experience.”
Staff member Imelda Hawkins has had a front-row seat for viewing Maria’s amazing work with her client on behalf of the award-winning Home Instead franchise that has been owned by Lorena and William Shensky since March 1, 2020. “Maria came to us with years of experience. She has been rockin’ and rollin’ with the same client ever since. Her client absolutely loves her and has made her part of the family,” said Imelda, whose three Home Instead staff titles are human resources, assistant administrator and recruitment and engagement coordinator.
Among the considerations for achieving Care Pro of the Month status, Imelda said, an employee has shown she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Compassion is taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations. Maria embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.”
In addition to her strong companionship skills, Maria provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. Maria offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By doing so, Maria not only assists her clients, but helps their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
To build on their knowledge and experience, Maria and other Midland-Odessa Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.
Imelda said: “Maria’s reliability and dependability have made it easy for her client to form a close bond with her. We all love Maria. She has been a great addition to our Home Instead team.”
Maria loves being a part of the Care Pro team for the West Texas franchise, a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor.
