Did you know October 1st was the International Day of Older Persons?
This month we are taking a dive into the life of some of our older clients. With lots of wisdom and stories to share, we are super appreciative of the roll that these clients play in our life.
Now the purpose of this holiday is different than most people would think. While it is just another reason that we get to celebrate the awesome older people in our life, it is more about the world coming to the recognition that we are not as present with them as we should be. As digitalized as the world has gotten, it is easy to forget that our elder loved ones did not grow up like this. They can easily feel like their children and grandchildren do not care for them as much when we spend more time in the digital world than with them. It is often not because the amount of time spent digitally is greater than the amount of time spent with them, but more the fact that there is something out there that they did not have, that is causing you to turn your attention away for them.
So let this holiday be a reminder to prioritize loving your elders and give them the attention and recognition that they deserve.
