Clarksville June 2021 Professional CAREGiver of the Month - Michael "Shane" R.
Meet Michael “Shane” R., the June Professional CAREGiver of the Month for Clarksville! Shane was a commercial truck driver for 27 ½ years before taking care of his father, who suffered with dementia, until his last days. He did five years of 24/7 caregiving with him and decided after that to become a professional caregiver. Joel is dedicated to caregiving, even researching dementia while his father slept, in order to find natural remedies. He says there is no greater thing in life than to take care of someone else who needs it. He calls it a privilege.
Shane has a grace for people and more patience than the average person. This helps him deal with people others may find “difficult”. He has been with a lot of clients until their last days and he says it is more rewarding than being a truck driver ever could be.
When Shane is not working you may find him eating at a “meat and three” like the Woodshed in Hopkinsville. He also eats banana pudding, to honor his father. Shane’s supervisor says, “He is a phenomenal Professional CAREGiver. Every client he assists sings his praises. He is an avid listener to his client’s needs, and ensures they feel heard and cared for”. We are certainly glad Shane has chosen Home Instead and we hope he continues to “Share His Heart” with us for many years to come!
