January 2022 Professional CAREGiver of the Month - Tonja K.
Congratulations, Tonja K., for being our CAREGiver of the Month for January! Tonja is amazing in every role of her life. She’s upbeat, positive and a joy to be around. She’s also not afraid of life’s challenges. Read on to learn a little more about her.
Where were you born? I was born and raised in Fort Smith.
How long have you worked at HISC? I’ve been with Home Instead for 1 year.
What’s your favorite part of caregiving? My favorite part of being a caregiver is meeting all these wonderful individuals whom I help. The clients we help are really wonderful people and they are very appreciative of our help. I also enjoy working with all my co-workers. Everyone is friendly and is always willing to help you when needed.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I have an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. I am also a foster parent to three other children. I love to travel, read and learn new things. My life consists of attending the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research, raising my kids and spending time with my family.
Sarah has four sisters and her family is really close. They love doing things together. She likes animals, being outdoors hiking and enjoys water activities. She likes any sport that her kids enjoy doing. Before she moved to Arkansas, she worked for many years in the service industry.
Tonja is one of our night owl CAREGivers. She loves those overnight shifts. No doubt, those hours are the best fit for her with all the other responsibilities she has. With everything on her plate, she is always pleasant and has a smile on her face. Recently, she went through a very difficult ordeal at a client’s home. Although that situation caught her off guard and was very uncomfortable, she handled it like a pro, which was incredible because it was a matter of life or death for a family member of a client. Life is unpredictable, but Tonja faces whatever life throws at her with total confidence.
