July 2023 Care Professional of the Month - Ava R.
Congratulations Ava Roper for being our Care Pro of the Month for July. Ava is a lady of few words, but her heart and actions speak louder than any words could. She is a natural with those whose minds are confused or failing. Since someone with a confused mind only understands about 7% of what people say, how Ava responds to them in her body language is a precious, calming gift. Read on to learn a little more about this humble, reserved lady.
Where were you born?
I was born and raised right in Lamar, Arkansas.
How long have you worked at HI?
I’ve been with Home Instead almost one year. (Her anniversary is this month 😉)
What’s your favorite part of caregiving?
My favorite part of caregiving is listening to their stories.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I love spending time with my husband, Darrin, my parents, and siblings. I have three sisters and two brothers. One of my brothers, named Joe, is my twin. I love animals and have three dogs named Sadie, Macey, and Raven. I work quite a bit but in my free time I like to read. My favorite books are romance or mysteries novels. I also love to paint flowers.
Ava is intuitive, attentive, intelligent and a master of improvisation. She has a client whose reality is sometimes different than what everyone else’s definition of reality is. Ava is quick on her feet, joins her story and together they write a story known only to them. When the client chooses a different subject, Ava goes with the flow. I doubt having realities change often is an easy thing to handle, but Ava’s talent is God given and she excels at it. Also, her consistency of care makes a big difference in how she and the client relate. Thanks, Ava, for playing your role as a Care Pro with excellence.
