April 2022 Care Professional of the Month - Daina B.
We’d like to congratulate Daina Bartzsch for being our CAREGiver of the Month for April. Daina has a heart of gold and strives for perfection in all she does. Read on to learn more about her.
Where were you born?
I was born in Canandaigua, New York.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Macedon, New York. Both Canandaigua and Macedon are tiny villages in upstate New York and part of the Finger Lakes Region.
How long have you worked at HISC?
I have only been with Home Instead since August of 2021.
What’s your favorite part of caregiving?
Normally, I would say that my favorite part of caregiving is listening to my elders tell stories and share memories. Since I now take care of a client who is younger than me, has ALS, and basically only communicates with her computer, I’d say that getting her to smile is my favorite part right now. Why? Because her life is very hard and smiles don’t come easily.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My husband is a Lutheran pastor in Lamar, and we live in Clarksville with our Labrador Hunny. Caregiving is my second career; I was a grade-school teacher before. I love to read mysteries and true crime and am blessed with the gift of singing.
A couple of interesting things about my life:
I have been to Israel with my husband (and other pastors and wives) and walked where Jesus walked. My family owned a log cabin in the Adirondack Mountains (in New York) that had NO electricity or plumbing and an outhouse. Best summers ever as a kid! Thank you, Home Instead, for giving me the opportunity to work for such a wonderful company!
Actually, we thank you, Daina, for being a wonderful addition to our company and working hard to be a positive, powerful influence to those you care for. We are proud to honor you with this recognition. God Bless.
