PNW Kupuna Care, LLC dba Home Instead Team

"PNW Kupuna Care, LLC" is a name we chose that reflects a mix of both of our backgrounds and a foundation for our vision. Kupuna is Hawaiian which, when said with much respect, means "grandparent" or "ancestor". Kupu means to grow and bring forth. Puna refers to a spring of water symbolizing our existence. In short, without our Kupuna we are without our own sense of individuality and rich history that helps us form who we are today. As a pharmacist, most of my responsibility was caring for our elders and community by diligently counseling on the management of their health and well-being and most of all to form genuine connections. We both have also been able to witness our grandparents age in our family homes and know the compassion and care it takes to keep our own grandparents comfortable in those precious years. We strive to continue in our mission to provide the most optimal care for our community and help enhance the lives of those we serve.

Before moving to the Olympic Peninsula, she spent 20 years in Switzerland where she taught ESL for all ages, taught a French/English kindergarten class and worked as a family counselor. Laura Mary can be reached at laura.christenson@homeinstead.com.

Kim 2022 1

Kim Cleary, Training & Engagement Coordinator

After living in Auburn for over 30 years and working for a trucking company for 18 years, Kim and her family moved to the Peninsula and made Sequim their home. After getting settled in their new community, she decided that senior care was the industry she wanted to be a part of. In 2016 Kim was hired as a Caregiver, made the move into the scheduling position a year later, and in 2018 became the Recruitment, Training & Engagement Coordinator. Currently Kim has transitioned to just Training & Engagement. She trains Care Pros in the classes that Home Instead requires and helps non-certified caregivers navigate the state required training making sure they are following all the state deadlines for training and certification. Kim can be reached at kim.cleary@homeinstead.com.

Trisha 2022

Trisha Rodgers, Recruitment Coordinator

Trisha lived in Southern California for 32 years where she worked in Customer Service for over 12 years. That experience shows as she is an expert at making sure everyone is content and managing any situation she meets with compassion and a smile. Trisha started her career with Home Instead as the Office Coordinator. Having been in that position for 7 years, she has made the transition into Recruitment Coordinator along with continuing to do billing and payroll. Emma Hines 2024

Emma Hines, Office Assistant

At a young age Emma was told her name means “all-embracing”, and she took that quite literally. Being born and raised in the Sequim area, Emma is naturally always sunny even when the clouds inevitably roll in overhead. Her loving disposition and excited nature make her perfect in her role, greeting people with a smile. However, her love for Home Instead began back when her Mom worked there for over 6 years as a CAREGiver. Seeing the joy her Mom radiated and the love pouring out for her job, how could Emma not have love for the people there and the work they do. When she’s trying not to kill her plants, she’s writing for fun and baking something delicious. Her main goals in life are, caring for others (and her plants), and helping people feel heard. :) Emma can be reached at emma.hines@homeinstead.com.

Clara

Clara D. Bawddy, Training Specialist

Clara is the in-house training expert for the team. Her dedication is exemplified by always being the first person at the office in the morning and the last to leave, begging the question, "Does she ever go home?" Her dedication has become almost obsessive. Case in point, when we have a meeting or a party, the office staff would literally have to drag her from the training room.

Clara feels she was just made to help people learn. Rather than lecturing, she focuses on "hands-on" demonstration of techniques to CAREGivers. She has never missed a training class and her consistent involvement in the office has earned her our deepest gratitude and respect. She has developed quite a tough skin as over the years she's been dropped and, sorry to say, shoved aside. She is an example of quiet strength to us all. Thank you, Clara, for your devotion to our team.

Fun fact! When Clara joined us, we were impressed by her credentials and references. But what really caught our eye was that she comes from a family of renown. Her great-grandmother stood proudly at Bloomingdales for many years and her uncle was the first crash test dummy. ;)
