Our Caring Star Award Winner for August is Mary Bayley!
Mary is a silent hero…. She lovingly cares for a life-long RN for over 40 years. While her client can no longer serve patients, Mary serves her with the love and care that only a mother could provide. She is gentle and understanding, nurturing, and supportive. On bad days, it is difficult to fully understand her client's needs as she sleeps and might be agitated, but Mary takes it all in stride and adapts accordingly to her client's needs. Mary provides expert direction to the Hospice CNAs, guiding them through care that is outside of our scope. She leaves nothing to chance. She even guides new CPs in an instructional way to support, enrich, and engage this client.
Mary has also discovered that when she sings "The Old Rugged Cross" to her client, she will sing along, even though she is nonverbal. Most of all, Mary is a faithful and loyal companion to her client. We rarely hear from Mary unless something changes in her client's care. Most importantly, we know she is there on-time, with her caring and loving spirit that is priceless to the family and a client that is thankful to see her every day…
