In October 2018 Brian Geenty came to Home Instead, Frederick, seeking a CAREGiver position. He was dressed in a suit and very passionate in his goal to serve seniors. Brian’s honesty, openness, empathy, and countless other attributes won us over. While Brian was 80 years of age, his energy and devotion was infectious!
Brian treated everyone with respect and care. During his health challenges, he mentioned a story of a woman he had been caring for, explaining her lack of close family and his need to be present when she needed someone the most. Brian sat with her, comforting her before her passing. He was inspired by the moment of kindness where all other things had faded away!
With Brian, it was always about “those moments”. Every client, every family member, he went to each home and filled it with care beyond what was ever expected. He was an exceptional man! He never considered caregiving as work – he saw it as his life’s true calling.
Brian was a great CAREGiver in so many ways and to all of us he will always be that kind, patient, hardworking, forgiving and compassionate person! He was the first to smile, to dress professionally every day, and to say “yes” to helping others at all times. For Brian, those moments were in every interaction he had with others – his smile, his bow ties, his work ethic, and his kindness will never be forgotten. He lived to help others. His legacy lives on for all of us. Rest in peace our wonderful friend.
