Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in Farmville, VA, and lived in the Buckingham/Dillwyn area most of my life.
How long have you worked at Home Instead?
About a year now.
What is your favorite part of caregiving?
I like providing care for others that I wasn’t able to do for my mother. She was diagnosed with Dementia, and the family took care of her until we could not do it anymore. I also worked with the intellectually and mentally-challenged individuals in a day care program in Rice. I like to feel needed.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I served in the Army for four years. I was stationed in Germany for two tours. Since returning home, I have worked as a deli manager, worked in a tire plant, was a direct support professional at a day program, and now: a Care Pro at Home Instead. I took over from where my mom left off-- taking care of, and raising, my nieces, nephews and cousins.
