Keeping in touch with family and beloved friends remains utterly important for those in elderly care. Studio City, CA family’s seniors requiring home care assistance can remain in contact with loved ones, even if they are many miles away.

The COVID19 pandemic brought about much pain and suffering, especially for those with chronic health conditions. Studio City, CA residents may have noticed, however, the great advance in video chat technology and the services which offer such services.

Well-known online services such as Facebook, Google, Zoom, and others familiar to the senior care community have changed the conversation, literally. Now, rather than grainy pictures that freeze often, senior care services like the professional CAREGivers from Home Instead can set up a dedicated video call system in the home.

Any senior who is savvy can use something like Google Meetup, Facebook Messenger, Apple FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype. Home care assistance in Studio City, CA can even help set these up on a computer or mobile device, but seniors can often struggle with these devices.

Fortunately, some companies have produced devices and services that do one thing and they do it well: video calling and receiving video calls. They are made for people who struggle with technology, or whose faculties and dexterity aren’t quite what they used to be. This makes these devices and services ideal for elderly home services.

The usually require some setup, but the licensed, trained, bonded, compassionate CAREGivers of Home Instead will happily help.

The first one we’ll mention is the Komp, made by No Isolation. When Komp is set up, select loved ones will have access to share images and call in at any time. The elderly loved one doesn’t need to press any buttons or do anything to accept the call. But if they desire privacy and some time without interference, they need only press the one and only button on the device to shut it down.

The second is the Call Genie. Call Genie connects to the user’s television monitor. It is set up to automatically answer calls placed by a select list of loved ones who have access. It interrupts the program playing at the time of the call, and when the call is complete it goes right back to the program seamlessly. And since it utilizes the video and audio capabilities of the user’s television there is little concern about the video and audio quality.

Other options include the Facebook Portal and Amazon Echo Show, both of which utilize the user’s account on those services. Both have their pluses and minuses, including voice command, routing through the user’s television, and other issues.

Your senior companion from Home Instead can help you choose which one is right for you or your loved one, and they can help set it up.
