Meet Josh and Kelly, Bowling Green’s Client and Professional CAREGiver℠ spotlight for April! Josh is 32 and had a traumatic brain injury at the age of 21, as a result of an accident. He cannot speak or walk, but somehow Kelly, his caregiver, gets him to dance! Josh’s face lights up when Kelly enters the room and they share many jokes, laughs and fist bumps. Josh and Kelly have been a team for 3 ½ years and they tease each other like best friends. They will regularly have a dance off to some of Josh’s favorite country songs and will play ball together from bed.
Kelly moved to Bowling Green from Nashville in 2017 after spending 25 years in the orthodontic field with the same doctor. Her love of helping people has been evident throughout her life. Kelly also helps Josh’s mother, who has had some broken bones recently. His mother says, “I don’t know how Kelly does it all, but she handles an intense shift like she was born for it”. Kelly says that being with Josh in the mornings is the best way to start her day and that they just click. Some relationships do not need an explanation because they were just meant to be.
