Desirae ‘Builds Trust, Takes Lead, Shares Her Heart’

Desirae embodies Home Instead®’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” That’s one of the reasons she was selected as Care Professional of the Month for Glenna Yaroch’s award-winning Home Instead office that serves North Oakland County, including Waterford, Clarkston, West Bloomfield and 15 other communities. The franchise’s general manager, Gail M. Wilk, announced Desirae’s honor earlier this spring.

Among the considerations for achieving Care Pro of the Month status, an employee has shown she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Empathy and compassion are taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations. Desirae is someone who is exceptional at her work with any client, Gail said.

“Desirae is among our Care Pros who have provided excellent care and put their clients first. Desirae is well-loved by our clients and their family members. I am proud to acknowledge Desirae and our fellow honorees, and I certainly am proud to work with them,” Gail said.

In addition to her strong companionship skills, Desirae provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. Desirae offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By expertly doing so, Desirae and her fellow Care Pros not only assist their clients, but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

To build on their knowledge and experience, Desirae and other Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

While proudly serving aging adults and their families, Desirae and the other Waterford Care Pros have joined in the 22-year-old locally owned and operated franchise’s solemn promise to provide seniors with the opportunity to age peacefully and safely in the comfort of their own homes.

Families love Desirae and the Waterford team for many reasons, some of which are:

· Do what they say they’re going to do – each and every time.

· Solve care problems using compassionate, person-centered solutions.

· Engage in thoughtful relationships with the families they serve.

· Give back to their community.
