Julie-Ann Cormier, RN, CCRN, Franchise Owner
Together with her husband Art, Julie-Ann is delighted to own and operate our Home Instead Senior Care franchise. When Julie-Ann first became aware of Home Instead and the services that we provide, she knew that it was a great fit for her. As a practicing nurse who still takes shifts from time to time at Massachusetts General Hospital, she is passionate about being a strong advocate for her patients. As an intensive-care nurse for over 15 years at Massachusetts General Hospital, a large percentage of her patients were seniors who needed strong advocates. Julie-Ann has a wealth of experience counseling seniors and their families when they found themselves needing support, answers to difficult questions, and general guidance regarding their care or the care of their loved one. Julie-Ann brings that same passion and experience to Home Instead Senior Care, ensuring that the service that we are delivering—senior care—is the best that it can possibly be.
Julie-Ann's profession is caring, but she actually began her caregiving career back as an eleven-year-old girl. Her grandmother was becoming forgetful, and keeping her grandmother in her own home despite her mild dementia was a difficult responsibility being addressed by her family. Julie-Ann would stay in her grandmother's house on weekends to help her. Firsthand, Julie-Ann experienced what our CAREGivers do each day. She cherishes the memories from those times with her grandmother and all the stories that she was told about her grandmother's life that she never otherwise would have learned about. Julie-Ann was also extremely grateful that she was there the night that her grandmother fell when she got out of bed, after suffering a stroke. Julie-Ann was able to activate emergency services and promptly facilitate getting her grandmother to the hospital. Home Instead's motto, "To us it's personal", rings true for Julie-Ann.
Julie-Ann was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. She is a registered nurse, having graduated from St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland prior to moving to the USA in 1995. She has been a nurse with Massachusetts General Hospital for over 20 years. At home, Julie-Ann chases around after her busy son Owen and tries to keep up with her endlessly energetic daughter Olivia. She enjoys reading, gardening and traveling.
