For the second time in 17 months, Becky Weisberg has been honored as a Care Professional of the Month at Home Instead® of Louisville, Colorado, a franchise that serves Boulder, Broomfield and northwest Adams Counties. It’s easy to see why Becky is a repeat winner.
Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator Brenda Munro is in awe of the highly acclaimed Care Pro, who was selected for the first time in June 2022. Referring to Becky, Brenda said, “I don’t even know what to say about Becky, who has worked for us at Home Instead since 2016 and is the epitome of an amazing Care Pro.”
Brenda added: “Becky truly treats her clients just as if they were her own family members. All of them are so grateful for Becky, as are we in the Home Instead office. She works full time and is always willing to take extra shifts if we have a Care Pro who is out with an illness. Becky goes the extra mile for her clients and is just an outstanding Care Pro.”
Brenda first vocalized her thoughts of Becky’s consistently amazing care in June 2022, when Becky’s first award was announced. Brenda said then: “In my short time with Home Instead, Becky was the first Care Pro I had met in person. Around Christmas 2021, she brought in one of her clients to pick up their gifts. I remember saying to the team, ‘Wow, do all of our Care Pros love their clients as much as Becky does?’ It looked like Becky was with her grandmother because Becky was so doting and loving.”
After being informed of her second Care Pro of the Month award, Becky humbly said: “I have learned new skills from the individuals for whom I care and support. I enjoy getting to know each and every one of my families. I am greeted each and every day with as much compassion and care as I bring to each family. I will always have a special place in my heart for the first couple I met. They had the best love story because they had been married for 75 years, and they were so kind to me and all of their Home Instead Care Pros. I truly felt as if I was with family every day I visited.”
Although Becky has been with Home Instead for the past seven years, her compassion, empathy and awesome relational and bonding skills have been on display for more than 37 years.
“I have always worked in the caregiving field. My first job was with the child-care center/ detention center in Tucson, Arizona, for teens involved in minor crimes. When I moved to Colorado, I began working for Denver Children’s Home in 1989,” Becky explained.
Becky worked for Denver Children's Home for 25-plus years before coming to Home Instead. Her job with the Denver Children’s Home involved behavioral management, and she taught coping skills to deal with traumatic events in the children’s experiences. Becky said: “Providing structure, and having patience and tolerance helped to build trusting relationships. It was the same experience for me at the detention center in Tucson.”
In 2016, while Becky was still working for Denver Children’s Home, she began looking for a new challenge. “My daughter did a search online and discovered Home Instead. I found the transition from Denver Children’s Home to Home Instead to be similar in caring for others. I am blessed to work with such caring people in the office as well as the people I meet in their homes,” said Becky, whose experiences have included family caregiving.
“I have raised three children, including two with special needs. I continue to support my son, who lives with me,” Becky said.
She also recounted other unforgettable family caregiving situations. “My parents were in their late 30s and early 40s when they started having children. I was 18 when my father had emphysema and spent most of his time in bed. My job was to make sure he had oxygen and check in with him during the day to make sure he had what he needed while my mother was at work. I remember my father asking me to read to him when he was ready to begin his new journey. He told me he was tired of being sick, and was ready to go,” Becky recalled.
Becky’s Home Instead warmest highlights over the years, she said, are simple stories of caring and mutual respect. “I enjoy working with each and every person for whom I am blessed to provide support in their homes or in assisted living or nursing homes. I feel as if I am visiting my best friend every day I go to work. The families and individuals are so appreciative, and they have so much love to share. The longer I work for an individual, the more like family they become, and it is easy to care for them as I would my own mother or father.” Becky said.
