September 2021 CAREGiver of the Month – Abigail P.
Abigail joined Home Instead in February 2021 when her strong desire to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals led her to professional caregiving. She loves working with seniors, learning about their generation through their life stories, and building relationships with her clients and their families.
A favorite caregiver experience is when a client shared how she wants to write a book to share with her care facility on the importance of the compassionate relationships seniors have with their caregivers. For Abigail, this demonstrates how much she truly has a positive impact on her quality of life.
As a student at Pima Medical Institute earning an Associate’s degree in occupational science, Abigail will be a licensed occupational therapy assistant in late summer 2022. She feels her on-the-job experience really complements her coursework explaining, “I love, love, love having the ability to use my OT skills and knowledge with my Home Instead clients! I am excited to be able to use my interpersonal skills gained by working as a caregiver when I become an OT practitioner.”
Originally from Florida, Abigail has lived in CO with her husband for five years and says her favorite pastime is walking to Olde Town Arvada with her husband and two pet snakes and educating kids and adults on the wonder, facts, and well-behaved nature of snakes!
