October 2020 CAREGiver of the Month – Julieta V.
Julieta is the daughter and granddaughter of doctors. She was born in the US but grew up in Mexico. She and her husband have raised their 4 children here in the US, and she is now a grandmother as well. Julieta is bilingual and her grown children all speak at least two languages, if not more. Following her role as a stay-at-home mom when her kids were young, she later spent most of her professional life as a public accountant. Currently, and for the past several years, she has been a Spanish teacher for a DPS school program. In addition, she is also an accomplished painter who enjoys painting abstract art which she she sells on Etsy! You can see her paintings by visiting the link to her online store which is listed below.
Julieta's first and only professional experience as a caregiver has been with Home Instead when she joined our team nearly a year ago. She had recalled the gratitude she felt for the caregivers who took care of her own parents back in Mexico when she was unable to be there. She says, "It made me consider the importance of giving someone the ability to go through such difficult moments and illnesses in life with dignity and with affection. Making it possible for them to remain in their own homes." What Julieta loves most about being a caregiver, is that, according to the Bible, we are the Body of Christ and an extension of Him; therefore, helping others in need is not only rewarding, but one of the most important things she can do in life. When asked to share a favorite memory or experience caring for a senior, Julieta says she could not mention just one. Here are just a few of the most memorable: Taking an elderly man and his dog, neither of whom had left the house in a while to the park and seeing the joy on his face. Cooking someone's favorite dish. Doing a sweet woman's hair and helping her feel beautiful. Praying with someone moments before they passed away.
Julieta, we are proud to have you on our team, and we appreciate all that you do to make such an impactful and compassionate difference in the lives of those who for whom you provide such excellent care.
