February 2021 CAREGiver of the Month – Kristy V.
Kristy joined our team in July 2019 after working at an elementary school for 10 years. She had friends working with seniors and felt it would be a good fit, saying “I’ve always enjoyed seniors and listening to their stories – we have so much we can learn from them.”
Kristy enjoys her time with her clients and feels they have really been a joy in her life. She has many fond memories including playing cards and board games and even taking one client to a thrift store. Recently she cared for a client in the final days and hours of life stating it was a humbling experience, and she is thankful she got to know him and help his family. Says Kristy, “Every day there are new experiences and things I learn. Last week I was able to take one of my clients to get her 2nd vaccine. She was so happy to be vaccinated that I felt I’d really helped make a difference.”
Originally from Greely, Kristy spent time in CA where she met her husband before moving back to CO. They have lived in Denver for 33 years, will celebrate 35 years of marriage in August, and raised one son and three daughters. One daughter was married just as the pandemic started so they had the wedding at Kristy’s home and invited friends and family via Zoom! Kristy also enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and two dogs.
