October Professional Caregiver of the Month- Tiffany K
Tiffany is originally from Queens, NY, and the mother of two grown children and grandmother to one young grandson. She has a degree in accounting, yet she has always worked in the human services industry, becoming a Professional Caregiver 28 years ago; following in her own mother’s path. As a child she would accompany her mother to work and remembers feeling so joyful at the opportunity to engage in activities and meaningful conversations with the residents. She says the residents had no idea how much they impacted her life and how much joy they brought to her! When asked how making a difference in the lives of others has made a difference in her own life, Tiffany says, “Every day that I enter someone’s home, I am greeted with warmth and a smile. I wish they knew how much they have made a difference in my life. Not a day or a shift goes by without me learning something new from the people that share their lives with me. I don’t consider this work or a job, but I consider this a true blessing to be a part of the lives of such wonderful families.” If Tiffany could share one caregiving tip, it would be to always be genuine and put yourself in their shoes so that you can better understand their needs and be the best caregiver possible to everyone trusting you with their care.
