February Professional Caregiver of Month- Yuliya M!
Yuliya has been with Home Instead Denver North for about 6 months, shortly after arriving here from Minsk, Belarus with her husband last fall. In addition to a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and compassionate nature, Yuliya brought an impressive professional background in caregiving, nursing, and instruction to her role as a Home Instead Professional Caregiver. In Belarus she was a Chief Nurse with the Belarusian Red Cross society and she also worked for the Minsk Medical University until 2020. She began her caregiving journey in 2010 when she finished a series of Caregiving for Seniors At-Home trainings with the Red Cross, and by 2014, she had become one of the course trainers! She also took part in developing the curriculum for home helpers and volunteers in-home-based care which was run by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. It was in 2018, when a good friend reached out to Yuliya and asked her to help care for her dying mother, that she gained real-life experience in the caregiving field and put her training, skills, and education to use. Now, as one of our amazing Professional Caregivers, Yuliya says she loves the ongoing training opportunities as it provides her with the ability to grow both as a person and as a professional. When asked to share one caregiving tip with her fellow Caregivers, she says, “Don’t try to do everything for your clients. They need to stay independent for as long as possible, so every attempt at being self-sufficient should be highly encouraged.” Thank you Yuliya for everything you are doing to enhance the lives of your clients and bring them joy and comfort!
