Meet this week's CAREGiver Spotlight, Cheryl! Dedicated to her clients, thorough and thoughtful in her care, and hardworking, Cheryl is an excellent Home Instead CAREGiver. Get to know her more by checking out her answers to these fun questions below:
When I am not caregiving, my favorite things to do are: Reading, gardening, trying new recipes, and taking long walks.
What is one of my most memorable moments in caregiving: After working for three months with a very resistant, independent client, one day when I was leaving she asked me when I was going to come back and said "I am going to miss you." That was a turning point in our relationship. Since then we have developed mutual respect and an enduring, flourishing friendship.
Fun fact about myself: During the 90's, I was a runner competing in many races throughout Southern California. I mainly ran for the fun of competition and to do my personal best, but during one run, on a particularly hilly and windy course, I came in first place in the women's division. Such a thrill!
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would want to go here: The Netherlands. I'd like to travel there to see the tulips and windmills, to visit Keukenhof, which is the garden of Europe, and to buy a pair of wooden shoes and dance on a cobblestone street in Amsterdam.
Besides my phone, I never leave the house without: Water, hand sanitizer, and Kleenax.
