June 2024 Care Professional of the Month: Rolanda R.
Before becoming a Care Professional Rolanda has worked in facilities for most of her career in Elder Care. What drew her to Home instead was the name, sharing that, “there is something about helping someone in the comfort of their own home”.
Listening and learning is Rolanda’s favorite part of her job. Getting to learn about a clients’ life and having them share photos of them throughout their years is “amazing”.
Rolanda is currently working with a 24-hour client and is always working hard. She gets her motivation to be a Care Professional from her family. She shared with us, “My Mother and Grandmother were both Care Professionals. They have inspired me to be a responsible and respectful loving care provider. Watching these ladies help other around them, provide support and give their best each time.”
The advice she would give other Care Professionals is to, “remember to be patient and gently. When helping others you must remember, one day you may need someone’s help”. From her experience with dementia care Roland knows, “Don’t take anything personal. Smile and be happy. Even when it’s a long day. Find the time to smile. Make someone smile!”
