Meet March’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team of Ms. Betty O’Malley and her caregiver, Maria Macias. Ms. Betty turns 95 in July of this year and was previously the Postmaster of Antioch, TN. She enjoys sharing stories of those times with her caregiver, Maria.
Maria is patient with Ms. Betty and is reassuring to her. She ensures that Ms. Betty knows she is there to help her. Although Ms. Betty is in her bed most of the day now, Maria talks to her about everything she is doing, even outside of the bedroom, to make Ms. Betty feel involved in the day.
Ms. Betty’s favorite activity is watching old television programs such as “Mary Tyler Moore”, “The Andy Griffith Show” and “I Dream of Jeannie”. During the programs she likes to talk about the characters and how handsome the men are or how beautiful the women are. Ms. Betty also enjoys showing off her “baby”. It is a blond-haired baby doll, and she loves to show it off to everyone and give the baby the same name as whoever the newest person in the room is.
We are so proud of the bond between Ms. Betty and Maria, and how they Share Their Hearts with one another each day, while staying safe at “Home Instead”.
