Meet Sarla and her Professional CAREGiver, Young, Nashville’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team for July! Ms. Sarla was an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina for many years. She moved to Nashville in 2013 with her daughter, Davika. Young has been coming to help Ms. Sarla four hours a day, since February 2021. Young was previously the manager of a dry-cleaning shop and decided she wanted to help people and has become an excellent caregiver.
When Young comes to help Sarla, she cooks, provides companionship, and gets her out for walks and physical therapy. Before Young, Sarla had not been out of bed to engage in activities for months. The first day Young came, she got Sarla out of bed and has consistently coaxed her into positive physical and mentally challenging activities and keeps her engaged and living a life of quality! Sarla likes it when Kim makes curry with vegetables and rice. They just vibe and it’s beautiful to see. They like to learn about one another’s culture and Sarla’s daughter says, “Young is very compassionate. She is more like a friend to mom and has made herself part of our family”. This is what “Sharing Our Hearts” is all about here at Home Instead. We are so happy Kim and Sarla found each other, and we hope they continue to enjoy each other’s company for many years to come!
