January 2024 Care Professional of the Month: Mark J.
Mark J. worked full-time for a non-profit organization for over 12 years, serving needy families and individuals in the DC area. When he decided it was time to stop working full-time, he knew working and helping others was something he wanted to continue doing.
Mark says, “It’s very rewarding when my clients say thank you and we appreciate all you do for us.” He knows he’s made a difference in their lives.
Here’s a recent memory Mark had with his client. Mark’s client was putting on his jacket and he could see the buttons on the jacket weren’t matching up, so the jacket was a bit twisted around. Mark offered to help him, and his client said, “That’s ok because I wanted to wear the jacket this way today just to be different.” Mark really thought that was funny.
Mark’s advice to other CarePros is to be patient and listen to your clients because they need our help and support. He thinks of them as his own parents or grandparents and wants to give them the best care he can provide just like he would his family member.
Taking a short break to gather his thoughts and remain positive, and not taking things personally has helped him deal with stressful situations.
