Khanh Goals: Be Helpful and Bring Happiness to Clients

Home Instead® Care Professional of the Month Khanh Nguyen loves and respects all of his clients, and he wants the best for each one of them. But Khanh has an especially soft heart for clients who are former military servicemen and servicewomen.

“I feel very happy to greet each and every client when I begin a shift. In turn, they are very happy to see me,” said Khanh, who joined Home Instead of Clearwater, Florida, on Jan. 31, 2024, and was honored 10 months later as the award-winning franchise’s Care Pro of the Month for October. Julie Castle owns the franchise, and Colin Castle is the vice president.

Khanh added: “My clients are open to conversation about everything, especially the retired military clients who served in Vietnam. They were there before 1975, when the conflict ended, and before I was even born. I share a special bond with them because my dad was a military officer in the Airborne Army. I feel so happy to see these service members each time, and I work hard to help them with anything they need. I feel like they are my uncles, like a family to me.”

Khanh found Home Instead on Indeed.com. A Care Pro’s responsibilities aligned with his specific interest in the job he prefers. “I provide personal care with assistance to individuals in their homes. I wanted to assist clients with daily tasks of living, such as meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, companionship and emotional support. I wish to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the senior,” Khanh said.

“My working background included the position as director of the Center Education Pre-K for 23 years. I have had experiences with people who have served as LPNs and CNAs at nursing homes. I am taking care my uncle and aunt. I have learned about quality senior care by taking care of them, and I have helped my family by doing so. From there, I decided to pursue professional senior care.”

It was no surprise when the Home Instead Director of Care Professional Services JC Crady announced Khanh’s Care Pro of the Month honor. Staff members cited Khanh’s work as an example of Home Instead’s core values, which are “Treat each other with dignity and respect, encourage growth in ourselves and others, and continually build value in our service to others.” In addition, Khanh epitomizes Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build trust, take the lead and share your heart.”

While praising Khanh’s efforts, JC added: “Home Instead’s mission is to enhance the lives of aging adults and their families, and to pioneer greater professionalism within care work. That’s why we’ve created a care experience that’s based on human touch, transparency and compassion.” Furthermore, focusing on Home Instead’s training, processes and procedures of successful caregiving helped Khanh achieve Care Pro of the Month status.

Khanh pointed out: “What I like most about my job is that I feel very friendly and close to my clients. I aim to always be helpful and bring happiness when I am working with the Home Instead staff and our clients.”
