Home Instead Corporate, on a national level, has awarded Shona Vernor Care Pro of the Year 2023. Shona will have been with our company for 11 years as of May 2024. It is rare that you have a person so dedicated to helping seniors that they remain caregiving as their sole profession for so long! She relentlessly gives of herself to make sure her clients live the best possible lives and all while doing so with such honesty, integrity and most importantly, a pure, open heart. She realized that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life, making the last years of someone else’s life the best they could be. Shona remembers as a child being asked what she wanted to do for a living when she grew up. Back then, she wouldn’t have known to say, “I want to be a Care Professional”, but thinking back on it now, she is doing every job she would have wanted to do! And every day can be different. She’s a chef, a homemaker, a CNA, a beautician, an art teacher, a personal shopper, and a companion. She’s a real jack of all trades! This is but one of many reasons why caregiving gives Shona such joy.
