Do you know what makes us the best??? It’s our ⭐️Care Professionals!⭐️ They come from all different backgrounds but the one thing they have in common is compassion. Today we are shining the light on Care Pro, Michael G. who also serves as our Care Pro Engagement Leader.
🔦Mini interview with Michael G.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?
Michael: I was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico for 18 years. My parents were missionaries/nurses. My mom managed a clinic on the outskirts of the city where people in need would come receive help. I watched her take care of many people who came in with urgent needs.
What made you get into caregiving?
Michael: I had some caregiving experience taking care of my grandmother who got diagnosed with cancer. My family would all take different shifts caring for her. After she passed, I realized that although it was difficult, I really enjoyed doing it. I decided to apply to Home Instead and get more experience.
Can you relate a caregiving experience that impacted your life?
Michael: This may sound heavy, but I have greatly enjoyed caring for some of my hospice clients up until their passing. Being with them in their final moments was special. They would disclose life lessons along with a few regrets encouraging me to not make the same mistakes. I don’t think you can go through an experience like that and not be impacted.
What advice or words of wisdom have you learned from clients?
Michael: Every one of my clients has shared that life goes by too fast to not appreciate every second of it.
What skills are you most proud of gaining since you started caregiving?
Michael: My family can’t believe that I do what I do because I used to get so disgusted at bodily fluids. Now it’s my job to deal with it. I’m pleased that I can give efficient bed baths and work proficiently with the Hoyer lift.
Can you share with us something you love about working for Home Instead?
Michael: There are so many hardworking and thoughtful people working at Home Instead. I’m happy to be a part of it.
