🔦Mini Interview with Care Pro Melissa T.
How did you get into caregiving?
Melissa: My mom has worked in a nursing home all my life. When I was younger, I loved going into the nursing home and making the residents smile. I knew from doing that this is the job I would love to do when I got older.
Can you tell me about a family you’ve worked with that has really affected your life? What made them so great?
Melissa: I have worked with some great families over the years. I can’t really pinpoint one thing that has affected my life because they have all impacted my life and I have enjoyed spending time with them all.
Building trust with the families you work with is so important in your role. How have you successfully done this?
Melissa: For starters, make sure everything is back in its place and nothing goes missing on your shift.😂 The biggest thing to know is that building trust with family takes time and patience.
What skills are you most proud of gaining since you started caregiving?
Melissa: One skill and training I am proud of receiving was my Advanced Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease training.
What do you love about working for Home Instead?
Melissa: Home instead was the first place I worked when I moved to Cleveland. They made me feel like family and worked with me through the ups and downs in my life. One of the best companies I’ve worked for.
